लिखने की तरफ़ झुकाव बहुत छोटी उम्र से हुआ था। अब ठीक से तो याद नहीं मगर ये शायद 1995 के आस पास की बात है, जब मेरी उम्र नौ बरस थी। दिल्ली के एक उर्दू रिसाले ‘बच्चों की निराली दुनिया’ में मेरी एक नज़्म ‘मेरा ख़ानदान’ छपी थी। शेर वेर मैं बहुत पहले कहने लगा था।
उर्दू पढ़ने लिखने वालों को या पढ़ना लिखना सिखाने वालों को अगर सबसे ज़ियादः कोई हर्फ़ परेशान कर सकता है तो वो हम्ज़ा है। अव्वल तो इस पर बहसें हैं कि इसे हर्फ़ माना भी जाए या नहीं कि इसकी दूसरे हुरूफ़ की तरह अपनी कोई आवाज़ नहीं है।
किसी भी ज़बान को पूरी तरह से समझने के लिए, उसके एक-एक लफ़्ज़ के मआनी तक पहुँचने के लिए सबसे पहले ज़रूरी है, कि हमें उस ज़बान की रस्मुल-ख़त यानी लिपि (script) का इल्म होना चाहिए। जब तक हम कोई ज़बान अच्छी तरह से पढ़ और लिख नहीं सकते, हम उस ज़बान से पूरी तरह वाक़िफ़ भी नहीं हो सकते।

In Urdu, there is a huge treasure of such words which are known as ‘DaKHiil’. In fact, there is another treasure which is even bigger than that of DaKHiil words. Interestingly, these new words have appeared in new garbs with variations in meaning, pronunciation, and spelling.
