Syed Ahmad Khan, who is better known and addressed as Sir Syed, was a canonical figure of India’s intellectual history. He passed away in 1898 but stays with us with his writings on a variety of subjects that have not lost their relevance even though they are deeply rooted in their times.
सर सय्यद और ग़ालिब के रिश्ते उस किताब से ख़राब हुए थे जिसे सर सय्यद ने सम्पादित किया था और ग़ालिब ने उस किताब के लिए सर सय्यद की ख़ूब आलोचना की थी। लेकिन इसके बाद एक समय वो आया जब दोनों के बीच की दूरियाँ शराब की एक बोतल पर समाप्त हुईं।
बीते दिनों सोशल मीडिया पर घूम रही एक तस्वीर ने उन तमाम लोगों को परेशानी में डाल दिया था जो फ़ैज़ के चेहरे से तो वाक़िफ़ थे लेकिन फ़ैज़ के साथ तस्वीर में मौजूद उस स्त्री को नहीं पहचान पा रहे थे जो ग़ालिबन किसी मुशायरे के स्टेज पर बैठी फ़ैज़ की जलाई तीली से सिगरेट सुलगा रही है।
