तख़लीक़ की इस दुनिया के बेताज बादशाह ‘ग़ालिब’ ने ऐसे में कलकत्ता का सफ़र किया, क्यों किया! ये आप सब जानते हैं, मगर वो रास्ते में कुछ जगहों पर रुकते भी गए, बांदा, लखनऊ और काशी या बनारस ऐसे ही मक़ामात हैं। जो लोग ग़ालिब के ख़तों को पढ़ चुके हैं, उसकी उर्दू-फ़ारसी शायरी का ठीक से अध्ययन कर चुके हैं, उन्हें ये बताने की ज़रुरत नहीं कि मिटती हुई दिल्ली और उजड़ती हुई दहलवी तहज़ीब से उसका लगाव ज़्यादा नहीं रह गया था।
