अगरचे ये शाइरी क्लासिकी उर्दू शाइरी के रिवायती साँचे से बहुत मेल खाती हुई नज़र नहीं आती, लेकिन ये हम-अस्र इंसानी तज्रबात और नफ़्सियात की गहरी तहों को खंगालने में रिवायत और जिद्दत के हर टूल के सहारे से अपना काम करती है। उनकी ग़ज़ल महज़ तख़लीक़ी सलाहियतों के इज़हार का अमल नहीं बल्कि किसी नादीदा-ओ-नायाब नुक्ते की तलाश, समाजी हक़ीक़तों के बयान और इंसानी वुजूद की पेचीदा तहों को बे-नक़ाब करने का ज़रीआ है।

मोहम्मद क़यामुद्दीन ‘क़ाएम’ चाँदपुरी अठारहवीं सदी के मुम्ताज़ शाइ’रों में शामिल हैं। ‘क़ाएम’ चाँदपुरी की पैदाइश तक़रीबन 1725 में क़स्बा चाँदपुर, ज़िला बिजनौर के क़रीब ‘महदूद’ नाम के एक गाँव में हुई थी। लेकिन वो बचपन से दिल्ली में आ रहे और 1755 तक शाही मुलाज़मत के सिलसिले से दिल्ली में ही रहे।
