In 1977, a well-known journalist and writer late, Kushwant Singh, called Urdu a dying language. How did a language with such a rich history become the subject of discussions about its ultimate decline? The situation may not be as dire as some individuals intentionally portray it to be.
Urdu poetry is a realm where words transcend their literal meanings, weaving a tapestry of emotions, spirituality, and profound insights. अज़रा नक़वी उर्दू अदब में एक जानी-पहचानी आवाज़ का नाम है। वो एक शायरा होने के अलावा तर्जुमा निगार और कहानी कार भी हैं। उन्होंने जदीद अरबी अदब के फ़िक्शन और नॉन फ़िक्शन दोनों को उर्दू में तर्जुमा किया है। बहरकैफ़ वो ग़ज़ल और नज़्म दोनों असनाफ़ में मलका रखती हैं। उन्होंने बड़ी उम्दा और एक नई कैफ़ियत से भरी हुई नज़्मों को तख़लीक़ किया है।
आसी ने ज़िंदगी की महरूमियों को क़बूल ज़रूर किया लेकिन कभी हालात के आगे झुके नहीं. कभी ख़ुदकुशी करने की नहीं सोची. मुस्तक़िल उदासियों की सौगात ने आसी को हस्सास से हस्सासतर बनाया और वे राह में आने वाले हर अजनबी से पूरे ख़ुलूस और मुहब्बत से मिले और यही वजह है कि उनसे मिलने वाला हर अजनबी उनका अपना बन गया.
Rekhti is what one may describe as a genuinely intersectional, inclusive and expressive form of poetry. From discussing themes like female sexuality to homosexuality amongst women to writing about mundane everyday chores, Rekhti did it.
