राहत इंदौरी ने मुशाइरे को एक क़िस्म के परफ़ार्मेंस में बदल दिया.. और मुशाइरे के मंच को भी राहत इंदौरी से बड़ा परफ़ार्मर अब शायद ही नसीब हो। वे ऐसा जादू जगाते थे जिसको दोहराना किसी के भी लिये मुमकिन न था।
राहत की चुभती हुई शायरी, शेर सुनाने के ड्रामाई अंदाज़ और मौके़-मौके़ पर उनकी तरफ़ से फेंके जाने वाले लतीफ़ों और जुमलेबाज़ी ने उन्हें एक दूसरे ही जहान का शायर बना दिया था। वो माईक पर आते ही मुशायरे की ख़ामोशी को दाद-ओ-तहसीन की गर्मी से ऐसा पिघलाते थे कि देर तक मुशायरा अपने मामूल पर नहीं रह पाता था।
शायरी और अदब के चाहने वाले कभी भी एक ही शायर या अदीब को लेकर नहीं बैठते, ये तो मुमकिन है कि कोई एक अदीब उन्हें ज़ियादा पसंद हो, मगर ऐसा नहीं होता कि वो किसी और को न पढ़ें, मीर के आशिक़ ग़ालिब के भी दीवाने हो सकते हैं, जौन को चाहने वाले फ़ैज़ की नज़्में भी गुनगुनाते हुए मिल जाते हैं।
Mushaira (mehfil or bazm) is a gathering of the poets who write, recite and listen to poetry of one another written in Urdu language, with a participative and responsive audience. It is not a contest which has a winner in the end, but the poets simply read out their self-composed poems in their patented and individual styles, crafted in accordance with a specific metrical pattern and carrying a certain loftiness of thought.
